Freeze Panes with Google Sheets

This feature allows you to freeze rows and/or columns so they remain visible as you scroll through the sheet.

Most often, this feature is used to freeze the first row of a table (the one containing the headers).


Freeze the First Row

To freeze the first row, click on the View menu > Freeze > 1 row:

The first row will then remain displayed when you scroll through the sheet:

Move the Panes

To avoid going through the View menu, you can also add, move, or remove panes manually (by moving the thick gray bars):
